**UPDATE** 21st July 2010
A few weeks ago I ventured up to Gloucestershire to shoot at a location I have wanted to use for some time, the famed ships graveyard on the River Severn. The rusty bones and weathered timber hulls lent a unique atmosphere to the occasion. I was fortunate to have the lovely Helen Diaz as my companion. The combination of such a terrific model with a really great setting on a perfect summer's evening made this a perfect shoot - what could be better!
**UPDATE**6th July
2010
The first in a long overdue series of updates! The fine weather towards the end of May was a real bonus for a weekend workshop on the wilds of Exmoor. Fellow photographer Howard and myself had the pleasure of working with three fabulous models, Erin, Allegra and Magenta. I have been planning a shoot using more than one model for some time and this proved the perfect opportunity to try out the idea. However, I could not have anticipated how well all three models would take to it. The girl's combined imaginations breathed life into the concept beautifully, making for a truly memorable creative experience as I hope the three new galleries show.
**UPDATE**4th May 2010
Sometimes it can be easy to
overcomplicate a photo shoot; too many props or a cluttered background can take
away from the beauty of the subject.
So I reminded myself to keep it simple when Erin and I got together for
a brief indoor shoot recently.
Thankfully in figure photography, like cooking, being able to work with
the best quality ingredients brings the best results!
**UPDATE** 19th April 2010
A few weeks ago, on a misty
day in the depths of Dartmoor, I was able to collaborate with the inspirational
Ivory Flame once again. Lately I
have wanted to explore the deep connection between humankind and the
earth. Something that our ancient
ancestors understood but that we in the modern world seem to have forgotten;
our lives are all too often artificial and detached from the natural
world. The two new galleries
created are in the spirit of rekindling this relationship.
**UPDATE** 8th March 2010
There's a new gallery added
today from my first outdoor shoot this year, featuring the wonderful
Allegra. This set of images
continues my "desolation angels" theme. The temperature was only a
couple of degrees above freezing so I had no right to expect anything from the
day. However I hadn't counted on
Allegra's tenacity and utter dedication to her craft. I'm delighted to say her gentle beauty shines through in
every picture, as I'm sure you'll agree.
**UPDATE** 5th January 2010
Taking pictures is all about
capturing a feeling, a fleeting moment, a slender slice of time that lives on
through the images. My work with
women is an attempt to catch the essence of feminine beauty, to portray
something of the magical allure that surrounds the fairer sex. A rare indoor session with my friend
Cody before xmas has resulted in a wonderful set of images which I hope does
just that. See the new gallery
entitled "night music" and judge for yourself?
**UPDATE** 27th December 2009
I've finally caught up with
editing pics from last month's shoots - there's a new location gallery added
today featuring the unique and lovely Ivory Flame. I first worked with this lady a couple of years ago, since
then she has risen to the dizzy heights of the modeling world, becoming a favourite
of artists around the globe. It
was a pleasure to make the most of a brief opportunity to work together once
more when she visited Devon recently.
**UPDATE** 12th December 2009
A rare dry, mild afternoon
last month gave me the chance to work with the fabulous Erin once more. This time we headed deep inland, to a
quiet woodland. The gallery added
captures something of the innocence of being at one with nature in such a
peaceful setting. The easy grace and growing confidence Erin portrays means I
have to keep reminding myself that this was only her second shoot!
**UPDATE** 9th December 2009
It had the pleasure of
working with Joceline a little while back at a fine art figure workshop. Given
her impressive resume and reputation as an international model, I had very high
expectations which Joceline exceeded with consumate ease and charm. Lithe, elegant, ridiculously flexible
and with a wicked imagination, it's easy to see why this lady is at the top of
her game.
**UPDATE** 14th November 2009
I have recently been
interviewed for the international fine art figure site "Universe
D'Artistes" by fellow photographer Howard Nolan. It was an enjoyable process and made me focus on the reasons
behind my art, the inspiration and the process involved in making my images.
It's nice to be recognised by one's peers!

**UPDATE** 9th November 2009
I have been fortunate to work
with some wonderful, inspirational models in my time. Someone who has a special place in my art, (& my heart
come to that), is Cody. We first
met back in 2006 and I have enjoyed working with her every year since
then. Our latest escapade was a
marvelous couple of days exploring the wilds of Devon & Cornwall. Once again, Cody, like the sun she
always brings with her, absolutely shone.
There are 4 new location galleries added as a celebration of this joyous
endeavour.
**UPDATE** 17th October 2009
I am proud to present a new
location gallery featuring Erin, a lovely new model and muse! The wild North
Devon coast, once home or wreckers and rievers, was the setting for this
series. Incredible as it may seem, this was Erin's debut photoshoot but,
blessed with a beautifully toned figure and boundless enthusiasm, she has taken
to artistic modeling with aplomb. What a find!
**UPDATE** 7th October 2009
At last some sunshine! September provided some opportunities
to shoot outdoors once more. One
such adventure gave me the good fortune to meet and work with the hugely
talented Artemis. Seldom have I
worked with a new model with such instinctive ability and affinity with figure
work. Bathed in the early evening
light, Artemis positively glowed against the backdrop of a secluded cove, the
rust red rocks warmed by the setting sun as I think the resulting set of images
added to the location gallery will show.
**UPDATE** 30th September
2009
Just added a gallery of
indoor work from my second shoot with Magenta. This was a brief shoot that was part of a fine art workshop
organised by my friend Howard at Unison Arts Group. I am genuinely amazed at the amount of creative
opportunities Magenta found in the humble setting of an old leaded light
window. She truly managed to conjure something out of nothing, hence the title
of the set 'alchemy.'
**UPDATE** 28th September
2009
After a busy summer I am
really pleased to add a new gallery featuring the marvelous Magenta, an artist,
dancer and model with creative energy in abundance. We were able to escape to a
new location on the wilds of Dartmoor on a windy (but thankfully dry) day. A very enjoyable collaboration all
round and one which will certainly bear fruit in future.
**UPDATE** 11th April 2009
At last the long cold winter
has finally receded, chased away by the verdant surge of spring. My first shoot of the year was with
local model Amber. We hooked up again
recently four years after first working together, for a brief excursion into
the Tamar valley. Amber is a very
easy model to work with, refreshingly uncomplicated and great fun.
**UPDATE** 6th January 2009
The long winter evenings have
meant I've been able to finish editing my final shoot of the year, featuring
the renowned art model Ulorin Vex.
Another in my ongoing "Desolation Angels" series, there are
two new galleries added. A hugely
talented model, Ulorin Vex is someone I've meant to work with for some
time. Finally our paths crossed
last autumn for a great day shooting in several new locations.
**UPDATE** 30th October 2008
Two more galleries added
featuring the fabulous Tavia, an international model who stopped by on her
world tour for a day's shoot in my office - the depths of Dartmoor! Blessed
with a figure to die for, Tavia brought some sunshine with her from her native
Australia and brightened up a gloomy English summer.
**UPDATE** 5th September 2008
I was very happy to have the
chance to work with Cody once again, as luck would have it, on one of the very
few sunny days we've had this summer. Aside from her obvious natural beauty, Cody's gentle
grace and infectious enthusiasm makes her a wonderful model and always a real
joy to be with. Never less than
inspirational!
There are two galleries added
from this shoot, including some vivid colour images that capture the freedom
and simple pleasure of being alive in the fresh air on a warm summer's day.
**UPDATE** 18th August 2008
Once again the wild and
wooded locations of Dartmoor provided the setting for an enjoyable shoot with
Roslyn, a model from Ireland visiting the UK. Never one to shrink back from a challenge, Roslyn showed
'true grit' by plunging into a freezing river, scaling a granite torr and
climbing trees! All in a days work
for a professional artists' model.
**UPDATE** 26th July 2008
A new gallery added from a
morning spent meandering through some delightful locations on the Welsh borders
with Alexis, a beautiful and talented model. Naturally graceful and athletic, Alexis makes Photoshop
redundant!
**UPDATE** 4th July 2008
Continuing the abandoned
buildings theme, these are from a very successful collaboration with
HollyVictoria who although relatively new to modeling has all the attributes of
a true artists' muse. Hopefully
the start of a great working relationship.
**UPDATE** 18th June 2008
The quest for curious
locations continues with a shoot at an abandoned rubber factory. Jayne and I got to play with some great
shapes & textures in varying light conditions in a fascinating space.
**UPDATE** 30th May 2008
Spring has arrived at last
and with it the first outdoor shoot of the year. Fittingly I was fortunate to work with Britney again; simply
one of the best fine art nude models around. Brit is able to use her acting background to great affect,
using her face and body to portray a whole range of emotions that never fail to inspire.
**UPDATE** 9th May 2008
This one slipped through the
net somehow! New gallery added
from a shoot with fashion model Rachel-Louise on a day when 'rain stopped play'
and prevented us from working outdoors.
The result was a pleasing series of images using only available light
from a large window; a simple, uncluttered feel, no gimmicks or props required!
**UPDATE** 25th April 2008
Two galleries added from a
lovely day spent working with IvoryFlame in several locations on Dartmoor. Holly is a striking & very
expressive model who could easily pass for a pre-raphaelite muse, with her
porcelain skin & flame red hair.
Her affinity with the art of the nude and gentle beauty mean she's much
in demand. It's easy to see why.
**UPDATE** 14th January 2008
Finally finished editing two
marvelous shoots with Yasmin, who I was lucky enough to work with on several
occasions towards the end of last summer.
Quite simply an inspiration!
Yasmin has such an instinctive understanding of the genre of artistic
nudes, time and again she amazed me by finding just the right pose for the
setting, capturing the mood of the moment with effortless grace. Months later, I'm still smiling..,
**UPDATE** 10th December 2007
Zara and I caught up again
for our fourth shoot at the end of the summer. With the kind permission of a friendly farmer who let us use
his farmyard & fields, our work in this slightly unconventional setting was
interrupted frequently by some very curious cows! Zara's animal magnetism proved irresistible to them; so much
so that I had the novelty of cropping a cows head out of several shots! The glamorous life of a model eh!
**UPDATE** 24th November 2007
Three new galleries added
featuring Samantha Olivia-Paige from back in the summer. Having enjoyed a successful indoor
shoot with Samantha at the end of last year I really wanted to work with her
outdoors over the summer. We managed to experiment with a variety of locations
in & around Dorset and once
again, her stunning natural beauty, growing confidence and sunny disposition
made for a wonderful series of images.
Pure joy!
**UPDATE** 14th August 2007
New gallery added:
"Sammie - falls & quarry." A fine spring day lead Sammie and I to the wilds of
Bodmin Moor, from the headwaters of the river Fowey to the quarries of Caradon
Hill. I wanted to get a dreamlike
feel with the images by the fast slowing water; those in the quarry are just a
lovely contrast between different textures - the cold, hard, angular rock and
smooth, soft skin & curves.
**UPDATE** 12th August 2007
New gallery added:
"Celtic Maiden - another eden."
The rain finally abated for a few hours so I managed to schedule a shoot
with Celtic Maiden, whilst she was back in the UK. The location was an old tin mine deep in the Tamar valley,
which nature had clearly won back from man. The verdant surge of early summer growth gave the shoot an
almost primeval feel.
**UPDATE** 12th June 2007
New gallery added: "Zara
- studio studies." A few images that haven't seen the light of day until
now, from my second shoot with Zara, a very versatile and bubbly professional
model.
**UPDATE** 4th May 2007
New gallery added: "Jane
- dancing ledge." Some shots from my first outdoor shoot of the year
featuring Jane, an artist's model
from Brighton. A lovely warm
spring morning on the Dorset coast.
Jane has great enthusiasm and the physical, (& mental) agility to
create some intriguing poses.
**UPDATE** 3rd April 2007
New gallery added: "Tors
- mellow moods." From a recent shoot with Victoria C, a simple studio
set-up reminiscent of the atmosphere of an artist and his muse.
**UPDATE** 26th February 2007
New gallery added: "Zoe
- daydreams." A set of images from a very early shoot with Zoe exploring
different emotions and ideas through shape, form and the play of light.
**UPDATE** 13th February 2007
Two new galleries added:
"Zara - the abandoned village / summer morning." From my third shoot with Zara; a
wonderful celebration of the sheer joy of being alive on a perfect summer's
morning. The intensity of the colours
made me vary from my usual tendency to go straight to black and white.
**UPDATE** 6th February 2007
New gallery added:
"Samantha - pure beauty."
Going back to basics in a studio setting. Samantha is a relatively new model whose natural beauty
& personality make her a joy to photograph. This is a set of colour images; there will be some black
& white to follow.
**UPDATE** 23rd January 2007
New gallery added:
"Lauren - natural light."
From a recent brief shoot with Lauren, a lovely and engaging model who I
instantly felt at ease with. Winter weather forced us indoors; used available
light only, aimed to get a simple, uncluttered feel. Follow up outdoor shoot planned for the summer.
**UPDATE** 10th January 2007
New gallery added: "Zoe
- autumn afternoon."
These are a few pictures from a shoot with Zoe some time ago that I
never got around to sorting. We
escaped the studio for an hour to wander in and around the old Roman ruins of
Silchester. The flint boundary
walls are practically all that remains of what was once a Roman stronghold in
southen England. I like the fact
that for a few hours that afternoon, the ghosts of the Roman garrison were
distracted by a beautiful young woman....,
